Dublin weekend weather: Temperatures drop to -4C as SNOW 'may' fall in parts of Ireland according to Met Eireann

Temperatures in the capital are set to drop to a freezing -4C as snow and sleet "may" fall in parts of Ireland today according to Met Eireann.

Friday will be cold to start with sunny spells and scattered showers to follow.

The very odd hail shower might be possible later with temperatures staying around the 5C mark.

Friday night will be cold, calm and clear with widespread sharp to severe frost and icy stretches with temperatures falling back to -3 and -4C.

Saturday will be a dry, calm and mostly sunny day but it will be cold throughout with afternoon highs of 7C.

Speaking further about the weekend, Met Eireann said: "Saturday will be generally dry and calm with high pressure in charge. However, it will be duller early in the week with patchy light rain. Less cold too though, with frost and ice limited to where skies break by night. Mist and fog at times with slack winds.

"Saturday night will be very cold and frosty once again with minimum temperatures widely falling back to -3 or -4 degrees. Some fog setting in too, mainly across the midlands.

"Sunday will see severe frost starting the day, but overall dry and sunny with just light breezes. Highs of 4 to 9 degrees, coldest across north Leinster.

Met Eireann are also forecasting that showers of "snow, sleet, rain or hail may occur in parts of Ulster".

They added that any accumulations will be limited.
