Dublin weekend weather: 11C temperature swing as Met Eireann forecasts THUNDERSTORMS for Ireland

Thunderstorms are set to hit the country hard over the weekend as temperatures drop to a low -1C.

Friday will be dry at first with some bright or sunny spells which will become cloudier through the afternoon with isolated showers developing.

There will be patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle with temperatures of 9C only dropping to 4C overnight.

Rain will clear eastwards early tonight but will stay mostly cloudy overnight with some clear spells towards dawn.  

Tomorrow will start off dry and bright but cloud will thicken through the morning bringing outbreaks of rain for much of the day although there will be some drier spells in the afternoon.

Saturday night will see outbreaks of rain becoming largely confined to eastern counties early on with clear spells developing elsewhere.

The rain will gradually clear southeastwards overnight but showers will arrive on western and northwestern coasts towards morning.

They added: "Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees. West to southwest winds will fall light or moderate in most parts but remaining fresh to strong near west and northwest coasts."

Sunday will be cold and showery with temperatures of 10C dropping to below freezing bringing a cold night with lows of -1C to 2C.
