Dublin weather: 'Wintry, thunder showers' to hit Ireland as SNOW warning in place by Met Eireann following Storm Jorge

Met Eireann is forecasting wintry, thunder showers on Sunday after Storm Jorge battered the country on Saturday.

Sunday will be a cold, bright and breezy start with any frost clearing as the day goes on.

The day will bring a mix of sunny spells and passing showers, some of which may be wintry on higher ground.

There will also be a slight risk of hail and thunder with the most frequent showers in the afternoon.

Temperatures of 7C will drop to as low as -2 tonight but it will stay mostly dry overnight.

A status yellow snow/ice warning is in place for Ireland also until 9am this morning which saw scattered wintry showers overnight leading to icy patches.

Looking into the start of the week, Met Eireann said: "A cold start to Monday, with a widespread frost and some icy patches.

"A mostly dry day to begin with sunny spells, however - much like Sunday - we will see scattered showers by afternoon with a risk of hail and thunder also. A cool, blustery day with highs of just 5 to 7 degrees in fresh westerly winds."

The rest of the week looks to be cool and showery with showers most frequent in the west.

There will be frost most nights but it will become less cold and more unsettled as the week goes on.

Met Eireann added: "It will be a cold night with a widespread frost and some icy patches. Minimum temperatures of minus 2 to plus 1 degrees, coldest in the east. Winds will be moderate west to southwest."
