Dublin Weather: Winds clocking over 100kph as Met Eireann warn of Ireland battering under Storm Dennis

Storm Dennis has opened the floodgates in Dublin and sadly Met Eireann say the horrible weather will continue into Sunday.

Ireland has been bashed by strong winds and heavy rain with many parts of the capital experiencing severe spot flooding.

The good news is Dennis's 'rain' of terror will ease off during the week - but wind speeds of up to 109kph and possible hail and thunder is on the cards for today.

A Yellow wind warning is currently in place and will remain so until 11pm tonight.

Met Eireann said: "The effects of Storm Dennis will continue today. It will be very windy with strong and very gusty southwest winds. Sunshine and heavy, squally showers with a risk of hail and thunder.

"Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.

"Continuing very windy early tonight with strong to gale force and very gusty southwest winds. Later in the night winds will ease somewhat, but will continue fresh to strong and gusty.

"Heavy showers or rain and hail will continue, but will be more isolated. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees."

Tomorrow will be chilly and there'll be more of the same.

They said: "Monday will be a cold, bright, blustery day with sunny spells occasional heavy showers of rain or hail with a risk of thunder. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees with mostly fresh, gusty westerly winds, strong at times along coasts."

Grand stretch

The good news is tomorrow will be the first day of they year we'll see 10 hours of daylight, according to Carlow Weather.

The forecaster said sunrise will happen at 7.41am and sunset will be at 5.42pm,

They also said there won't be "too much rain" on Monday and Tuesday so hopefully flooding won't be as bad.
