Dublin weather: We are set to be warmer than Sicily next week as summer finally arrives

Ireland is set to be hotter than Sicily next week as heavy rain and chilly conditions finally give way to glorious sunshine.

It looks like summer has finally landed as we will be graced by sunning spells and dry periods in the coming days.

The mercury is expected to reach as high as 18C on Monday meaning that Ireland will be warmer than Palermo in Sicily, where it will peak at 16C.

Weather: Heavy showers have last hoorah in Dublin as Met Eireann forecast wonderful weekend change for Ireland

A Met Eireann forecaster said: “Sunday and the early days of next week sees mainly dry and sunny weather developing as high pressure settles over Ireland.”

Clouds will appear at times meaning that the sunny conditions may be a little hazy and winds will remain light to moderate throughout the country.

The forecaster added: “We are expecting temperatures as high as 18 degrees in some locations. A heatwave is 5 consecutive days of good weather where temperatures exceed averages for that time of year. At the moment, the weather will be warmer and dryer.”

Temperatures will be between 15C and 18C for the majority of the country and may be a little lower along the east and southern coasts.

Some parts of Connacht may see temperatures even higher than 18C.
