Dublin weather: Warm and sunny day forecast before temperatures plummet below freezing early next week

The city is set to enjoy another unseasonably warm day today with temperatures set to hit the mid-teens but there's a nasty cold snap on the way.

Sunday will be dry and sunny with temperatures hitting between 11 and 14C.

It will remain dry tonight although there will be some fresh south westerly winds that will become light tomorrow morning.

Monday is likely to be another dry and sunny day with highs of 10 to 12C before the temperature drops dramatically to as low as -2C overnight.

Met Eireann say: "Monday night is likely to be a cold and clear night in the northern half of the country with lowest temperatures of -2 to +3 degrees.

"It will be warmer in the south overnight with temperatures staying above 5 degrees. Apart from a few showers on south coasts it will be dry."

New Year's Eve looks set to dry with more sunny spells although it will be noticeably colder with highest temperatures of just 6 to 10C.

And looking ahead to the first day of the new decade, the forecaster says: "New Years Day will be mostly dry also with just the odd patch of light rain or drizzle.

"Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

"It will become windy during the evening with gales possibly on western coasts.

"The night will be frost-free with most areas remaining dry. Minimum temperatures 4 to 7 degrees."
