Dublin weather: Urgent warning in place for Ireland as big change forecast across capital

As an urgent rainfall warning remains in place in parts of Ireland today, the outlook long term for the capital doesn't look too promising either.

Heavy and thundery showers are being forecast across Dublin this week as temperatures remain high too.

Monday will start off misty for a time turning heavy with a risk of some thundery bursts too leading to localised flooding in areas.

Temps of 19C will dip to just 12C overnight with more heavy showers or longer spells of rain becoming more isolated throughout.

Elsewhere, a status yellow rainfall warning is still valid for Munster, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly and Galway.

The warning until midnight tonight will see "heavy, possibly thundery, rain at times overnight and during Monday with accumulations of 25 to 40mm in places. Localised flooding may occur".

Here's how the rest of the week is looking:

TUESDAY : "Showers, lighter than recent days will remain isolated with good sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in light southwest to westerly breezes. On Tuesday night it will be mostly dry with clear spells for a time in Ulster although cloud will thicken from the southwest with rain spreading into Munster towards morning."

WEDNESDAY : "A band of rain will move northeastwards across the country on Wednesday, clearing to sunny spells and scattered showers in the southwest by evening. The rain will be accompanied by moderate to fresh east to southeast winds, strong near coasts. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees."

THURSDAY : "Thursday will see a mix of sunshine and heavy showers or longer spells of rain. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees with moderate to fresh south to southeast winds, strong at times along coasts."

FRIDAY : "A fresh to strong west to southwest flow is expected to steer in further showers or longer spells of rain from the Atlantic during Friday. Cooler, with highs of 16 to 19 degrees."

FURTHER OUTLOOK : "Becoming cooler and remaining unsettled with spells of showers and rain at times."
