Dublin weather: Urgent warning for Ireland but scorching five-day mini-heatwave to follow say Met Eireann

Despite an urgent weather warning in place for some counties, Dublin and the rest of Ireland is set to experience a five-day, mini-heatwave between now and next week.

Temperatures of 22C+ will fill the skies as that big yellow mysterious dot shines down giving us that badly needed summer feel.

Today will start off cloudy and misty with showers some of which may be heavy.

It'll brighten up as the day goes on with some good sunshine developing and becoming largely dry with temps of 23C dropping to 15C overnight but remaining clear and dry.

Elsewhere, a status yellow rainfall warning remains in place for Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipp and Waterford this morning.

This will bring "heavy thundery rain with accumulations of 20 to 30mm and torrential downpours in places leading to spot flooding".

Here's how the next few days look according to Met Eireann:

Thursday: "Dry, misty and mostly cloudy to start, with some sunny spells developing this afternoon. Staying warm and humid with highest temperatures of 20 or 21 degrees, cooler near coasts, in light to moderate northeasterly or variable breezes."

Saturday: "It will likely be a wet start to the morning in southern areas, with low cloud, mist, and fog elsewhere. Sunny spells and scattered showers will develop by the afternoon, the showers most frequent in the southwest. Warm and humid with highest temperatures of 20 to 24 degrees, cooler near some coasts as sea breezes develop in otherwise mainly light easterly breezes."

Sunday: "A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers with some heavy or thundery bursts in the afternoon. Warm with highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees in light to moderate easterly or variable breezes."

Monday: "Cloudy with widespread showers, merging into longer spells of rain at times. There still is a risk of thunderstorm activity, especially in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees in light variable breezes."

Further Outlook: "Humid and unsettled conditions continuing into next week with showers or longer spells of rain as temperatures decline gradually."
