Dublin weather: Urgent 24-hour warning in place for Ireland but six-days of 20C+ temperatures to hit

Met Eireann has promised a big change in the weather as a six-day temperature burst is on the way for the country.

From today right up until Sunday, temperatures will be 20C+ and who knows, it might even go beyond that but that's just as far as Met Eireann are forecasting at the moment.

It comes as an urgent weather warning was issued in part of the country which kickstarts today and will last a whole day from 1pm Tuesday to Wednesday.

The status yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Mayo, Galway and Donegal and means "heavy rain with accumulations between 30 to 50mm is expected, potentially higher amounts possible in mountainous areas. Localised flooding, poor visibility and poor driving conditions are expected".

Today in Dublin, it will be cloudy and humid with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

It will be dry and bright with temperatures of 21C which will only dip to around 14C overnight becoming mild, humid and misty.

Here's what Met Eireann are saying for the rest of the week:

Wednesday: "Tomorrow will start off cloudy with further outbreaks of rain through the morning and early afternoon. Drier and brighter weather will follow for the afternoon and evening, with just a few isolated showers around. Fresh southerly winds at first, gradually easing and veering westerly through the day. Highest temperatures of 19 or 20 degrees."

"Thursday will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Cloudiest in the west and south with some patchy drizzle at times. Highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees in most places, but a degree or two cooler towards the south coast in a moderate southerly breeze."

"On Friday there will be sunny spells and showers, most frequent in the northwest and southeast with some thundery bursts possible. Highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees, warmest in the south and east, with light to moderate southerly winds veering westerly."

The weekend: "On Saturday there will be sunny spells and some showers, mainly in the west and north. Highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees with light and variable breezes. Sunday is looking mainly dry and sunny with highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees."
