Dublin weather: Urgent 12-hour warning issued in Ireland say Met Eireann but 22C to hit capital

The last of the summer weather will hit the capital today just before spells of rain move in tonight.

It will be humid and breezy today with outbreaks of rain in the morning leading to some heavy falls.

As the day goes on, it will become drier for a time during the afternoon with bright spells leading to high temperatures of 22C.  

There will be more outbreaks of rain overnight with clear spells and isolated showers following with temperatures dropping to 12C.

Elsewhere around Ireland, a 12-hour weather warning is in place for four counties.

The status yellow, rainfall warning is issued for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo from 5am today until 5pm this evening.

Met Eireann warn: "25 to 35mm of rainfall is expected on Wednesday. Localised spot flooding is possible."

Here's how the rest of the week looks:

Tomorrow : "Thursday looks set to be a bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Highest temperatures 17 to 19 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest breezes."


Friday : "Bright and fresh on Friday with sunny spells and scattered showers, the showers frequent in Connacht and Ulster but more isolated elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly breezes, warmest in the southeast of the country. A good deal of dry weather across the country on Friday night but with a few showers continuing to affect parts of the southwest, west and north. Minimum temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate westerly breezes."



Saturday : "A day of sunny spells and scattered showers once again on Saturday. The showers spreading eastwards across the country in moderate to fresh westerly winds. A relatively cool and fresh day with top temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees. Further showers overnight, some prolonged. Minimum temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate westerly winds."



Sunday : "Current indications suggest some heavy showers are possible in western areas on Sunday but with good sunshine between the showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds."

Further outlook : "Early indications suggest a westerly air-flow will continue to dominate into the early days of next week bringing further showery weather. Temperatures will be close to average for September."
