Dublin weather today: Met Eireann warns of subzero temperatures and widespread frost

Today is set to be extremely cold as Met Eireann has warned of subzero temperatures.

It’ll start off cold and frosty but the rest of the day will be dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells.

Temperatures will range between 5C to 7C in the afternoon.

But things are set to change dramatically tonight as temperatures will plunge to as low as -2C. It’ll be cold and mostly clear overnight with widespread frost.

Another cold day on Tuesday as temperatures will struggle to reach double digits. It’ll be a mainly dry day with sunny spells.

The national outlook says unsettled weather conditions are set to hit Ireland later in the week.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: “Tuesday night: Increasing amounts of cloud across the country on Tuesday night with patchy rain and drizzle developing in the southwest and west with the odd light shower possible elsewhere.

“Much of the country will remain frost-free with minimum temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees generally but milder in coastal areas. Moderate, locally fresh southerly winds.

“Wednesday: A fragmenting band of rain will push eastwards across the country on Wednesday but rainfall amounts will be small with parts of the east and southeast holding out dry.

“Highest temperatures of 7C to 11C in moderate to fresh southwest winds. The odd light shower overnight but dry for most with a patchy frost forming. Minimum temperatures of 1C to 4C in moderate southwest winds.”
