Met Eireann warns that there's also a risk of thunder and spot flooding throughout the early hours.

It's expected to clear by noon, with both sunny spells and scattered showers forecast for the rest of the day.

"Clear spells early tonight. Heavy showers will spread eastwards across the region overnight. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees."

We can expect more heavy downpours on Saturday as the weekend arrives.

There will once again be a risk of spot flooding, with persistent and heavy rain expected over Leinster.

As for Sunday, it seems conditions will calm slightly with only scattered showers on the horizon.

Met Eireann continued: "Saturday morning will be mainly dry with some sunshine. Cloudy will increase from the south.

"In the late afternoon and evening, persistent or heavy rain will spread northwards over the region.

"There'll be a risk of spot flooding, Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees with moderate southwest winds, becoming light and variable later.
