Dublin weather today: Met Eireann says clouds and rain set for capital but high pressure across Ireland to bring 21C temperatures and sunshine during week

The celebration continues in Dublin today after Jim Gavin's boys in blue nabbed the five in a row.

But even the rain that's due to arrive in the capital today won't dampen the high spirits.

We're looking at a mainly cloudy day, with temperatures hitting around 19C.

The showers will continue into tonight, but then it's going to become clear again for a mild night.

Met Eireann says: "Mostly cloudy today but largely dry this morning. In the afternoon some rain will develop. Highest temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees. Westerly winds will be mostly light.

"Still a little rain or drizzle early tonight but it will become dry later with clear spells. Mild with lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in light westerly winds."

And if you're worried that there's Autumn in the air - worry not.

We're looking at a week of high pressure across Ireland, so weather conditions across the country are going to be largely dry and calm.

Monday will be dry and sunny, and we cane expect more sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Right now it looks like temperatures will reach 21C on Thursday and Friday.

Met Eireann continued: "Monday will be a dry day with sunny spells and highest temperatures of 17 or 18 degrees. Winds will be light northwesterly.

"High pressure will be centred near or over Ireland for much of the week, at least until next weekend, giving largely dry and calm weather.

"There will be good sunshine in most areas. Daytime temperatures will increase a bit each day, ranging from 16 to 19 degrees on Tuesday, 17 to 20 degrees on Wednesday and 18 to 21 degrees on Thursday and Friday.

"Nights will be quite cool with minimum temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, and some fog may form. Later in the week the nights will become milder."
