Weekend weather Dublin: Met Eireann warns of 'heavy and prolonged' rain for Ireland

The weather for the weekend is set to be a mixed bag as Met Eireann reveals that there will be a constant switch between dry weather and heavy rain.

Saturday will see temperatures rise to as much as 14C but sunny spells will be met with showers but it is expected to remain mostly dry throughout.

The nighttime will be dry at first with rain creeping in later and temperatures dropping to as low as 5C.

Sunday will be dull and damp to start with further rain expected. It will become mainly dry as the morning goes on but showers in the afternoon will become 'heavy and prolonged'.

Temperatures will hit as high as 14C but will drop to as little as 4C with heavy rain expected for Sunday morning.

For the start of next week, Met Eireann says: "It will stay unsettled throughout next week with areas of low pressure moving towards Ireland bringing showery and windy weather.

"The best of the dry and bright weather will be in the east and south. Temperatures in the low teens at best."
