Dublin weather today: Heavy rain to hit the capital but it's not all bad news

Autumn may be finally here as Dublin is set to be lashed with wet and windy conditions this week but it's not all bad news.

Today will be a bright and fresh day with a mix of sunshine and cloud.

While it will be mostly dry, Met Eireann has warned of scattered showers with temperature of 14C to 17C.

Tonight will be dry and clear but chilly with the lows of 6C to 7C.

Tomorrow will start off dry but not for too long.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: “Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will affect the capital in the afternoon and evening but amounts of rain will be light. Highs of 15C or 16C in southwest breezes.”

Wet and windy conditions will dominate Tuesday night.

They added: “Wednesday: A bright and fresh day with sunny spells and scattered showers in blustery westerly winds. Highs of 15 to 18 degrees.”

A mini heatwave may hit Ireland by the end of the week, according to respected weather page MetAlert Ireland.

The independent, amateur-based weather service is even tipping temperatures to soar right back into the mid twenties as early as next weekend.

Met Eireann has predicted temperatures as high as 20C for Thursday and Friday.

The Met Eireann forecaster said: “Thursday: A cloudy day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, more persistent and heavier across Ulster and Connacht. Humid and breezy with highs of 16C to 20C.

“Friday, weekend: Mostly dry, mixed sunshine, highs 15C to 20C.”
