Dublin weather: Three Met Eireann warnings for Ireland as 100km/h gusts, thunder and flooding hit

Met Eireann has issued a staggering three warnings for the country today as 100km/h gusts, thunder and flooding hits Ireland.

The trio of warnings, which are in place until 3pm today, will see a status yellow, rainfall warning for the whole of Leinster.

This means: "Heavy rain at times Monday and Tuesday with a risk of local flooding. Rainfall totals of around 20-30mm expected, possibly higher in mountainous areas."

As well as this, a status yellow, rainfall warning is in place for Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

And to rounds things off, a wind warning is issued for Wexford, Cork, Kerry and Waterford which will see winds of up to 65km/h hittng.

Here's how the rest of the week is looking according to Met Eireann:

Today: "Cloud increasing this morning with showers or longer spells of rain spreading from the southwest bringing heavy thundery downpours. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds will increase fresh to strong and gusty southerly during the morning, before easing later in the evening. Highest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees."

Tonight: "Drier conditions will develop tonight although remaining mostly cloudy. Lowest temperatures of 9 or 10 degrees, in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds veering westerly by morning."

Tomorrow: "Wednesday will start mostly cloudy with scattered showers, however sunny spells will develop in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 11 or 12 degrees in a cool moderate to fresh northwesterly wind."

Thursday: "Dry for much of the day with occasional spells of sunshine however cloud will increase from the west through the afternoon with rain extending from the Atlantic later in the evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in mostly light west to southwest breezes, backing southerly by evening."

Friday: "Rain in the east will clear into the Irish Sea early in the morning to give a mostly bright day with sunny spells and isolated showers. Highs of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate westerly winds."

Saturday: "Partly cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle at times on Saturday morning, however more persistent and heavy rain will develop in the west later. Warmer with highs of 14 to 16 degrees in fresh and gusty southerly winds."
 


Further outlook: "Sunshine and scattered showers on Sunday followed by more unsettled conditions early next week."
