Dublin weather: Temperatures to plummet below freezing tonight before 14C SWING early next week

It's looking like it's going to be a very cold day in the capital with temperatures barely scraping 8C before plummeting below freezing tonight.

But there's some good news on the way with temperatures set to rise significantly early next week.

Saturday will be mostly dry with bright periods and a chance of some sunny breaks.

Tonight will be dry and cold with broken cloud as temperatures drop to -1C with frost developing inland as skies clear.

It will remain cool and dry tomorrow with temperatures hitting just 8 or 9C.

The mercury is set to climb from Monday though and will hit the early teens by Tuesday.

Met Eireann say Monday will be mostly dry with sunny spells and highs of 9 to 11C.

There is a chance of some patchy frost on Monday night before temperatures soar as high as 13C on Tuesday on a cloudy but dry day.

Unfortunately that nice weather doesn't look like it will last too long with the weather set to become more unsettled from Wednesday onwards.

The national forecast reads: "Current indications suggest more unsettled weather from Wednesday with a band of persistent rain early on Wednesday clearing to colder brighter conditions with sunny spells and showers for Thursday."
