Dublin weather: Temperatures drop below zero as winter hits Ireland hard but big change coming say Met Eireann

Temperatures in Dublin will drop below zero tonight as winter hits Ireland hard but it's not all bad news ahead of the weekend.

Saturday will be a bright and crisp day with good sunshine and temperatures of 13C.

But it will turn very cold tonight with frost developing as the Celsius dips to a teeth-shattering -1C.

Despite this low drop, weather will pick up once again on Sunday with another dry day and good sunshine forecast by Met Eireann giving a sunny end to the weekend with temperatures of 14C.

Met Eireann say it will be "mostly dry on Monday and Tuesday, becoming quite unsettled from Tuesday night through to the end of the week with heavy rain and strong winds at times. Turning cooler later in the week".

Here's how the weather is looking for next week:

MONDAY: "A cloudy, damp start with light rain and drizzle clearing eastwards through the morning. Brightening up into the afternoon with sunny spells and just well scattered showers - mainly along west and northwest coasts. Highs of 14 to 17 degrees, in a moderate westerly breeze. Mostly dry on Monday night with clear spells, and just a few showers in the west, lows of 4 to 7 degrees."

TUESDAY: "Mostly dry on Tuesday with sunny spells and scattered showers. Cloud will increase from the west later in the day with rain arriving after dark. Highs of 13 to 15 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze, strengthening on western coasts later.
A very wet and windy night on Tuesday night."

WEDNESDAY: "A cool blustery day on Wednesday with frequent heavy showers or longer spells of rain. Highs of 13 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong on coasts."

THURSDAY and FRIDAY: "Remaining quite unsettled, with further rain and strong winds at times. Temperatures cooler than average with maximums in the low teens."
