Dublin weather: Storm Ellen aftermath leaves 'severe' warning for capital as Ireland recovers from brutal winds

Storm Ellen has left her mark around the country including in Dublin where a status yellow wind warning will kick off the morning.

The warning for all of Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo will remain in place until 8am this morning.

Met Eireann warns: "It will become very windy this evening and tonight, with severe gusts likely."

They added: "Some flooding likely also, especially in coastal areas."

Here's what Met Eireann are saying for the next few days in the aftermath of Storm Ellen:

Thursday: "Very windy today, with a mix of bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy and possibly merging to give longer spells of rain at times, with a risk of thundery downpours. Maximum temperatures 18 or 19 Celsius, in fresh to strong and gusty south to southeast winds.

"Tonight will remain very windy, with occasional spells of rain, heavy and possibly thundery at times. Minimum temperatures 13 or 14 Celsius, in fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds, later veering southwest to south."

Tomorrow: "Friday will be quite windy, especially in the morning, Brightening up gradually with some sunny spells and but a few scattered showers may develop also. Maximum temperatures 18 to 20 Celsius, with fresh to strong southwesterly winds in the morning and for a time in the afternoon, easing later

Saturday: "Quite cool and windy, with a mix of bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, merging to give longer spells of rain in Connacht and Ulster for a time in the morning and early afternoon. Maximum temperatures 15 to 20 degrees, in fresh and gusty westerly winds."



Sunday: "A few bright or sunny spells, but cloudy spells also, with scattered outbreaks of showery rain. Quite cool, with maximum temperatures of only 15 to 19 Celsius, in light to moderate westerly breezes.
On Sunday night, a spell of persistent rain will extend from the Atlantic, with mostly moderate southerly winds."

Monday: "Rain will clear away eastwards in the early morning and it will brighten up gradually, with some sunny spells developing, but scattered showers also, some heavy in the northern half of the country later in the afternoon and in the early evening. Max. 15 to 19 degrees, in mostly moderate westerly breezes."



Further Outlook: "Changeable and unsettled weather continuing. Current indications suggest that Tuesday will be dry in many areas, but persistent and locally heavy rain will develop in southern coastal counties, with mainly dry conditions following for Wednesday. However, the forecast details may change."
