Dublin weather: Storm Dennis on way to Ireland warn Met Eireann while snow warning still in place

While the country is still feeling the aftermath of Storm Ciara, Met Eireann has warned that Storm Dennis will hit at the weekend.

Wednesday morning will be frosty and icy in the morning with snow lying in places as Met Eireann's snow/ice warning remains in place.

But, as the day goes on, it is expected to become dry and bright with mainly light winds. Some wintry showers may occur early on but these will clear by late morning.

They added: "It will be another cold day with highest temperatures of just 6 to 7 degrees. Rain will spread from the southwest during the evening, with winds backing southerly and increasing fresh near the coast."

Night time temperatures will drop to a low 2C with rain early on but easing as we head into Thursday.

As mentioned, Met Eireann's snow/ice warning for the whole of Ireland has been extended until 10am this morning.

This means: "Scattered wintry showers tonight and early Wednesday with some snowfall accumulations, especially in the west and north. Some disruption to travel is possible, particularly over higher routes."

Looking to the weekend, Met Eireann says that a "very wet and windy start to Saturday" will be thanks to Storm Dennis.

There will be rain in all areas during the morning which will clear for blustery showers during the afternoon.
