Dublin Weather: Status Orange warning issued by Met Eireann as Storm Jorge races toward the capital with 120km winds

A Status Orange weather warning as been issued as Dublin prepares to face winds of up to 120kph from Storm Jorge.

Met Eireann has issued the alert nationwide as the latest storm approaches, with heavy and possibly thundery showers expected to batter the capital.

The warning comes into place at 1pm on Saturday afternoon and will stay until 7pm that evening.

Met Eireann's warning said westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 65-80kph, with winds of up to 120kph expected in the evening.

A Status Yellow warning had been previously issued for Leinster, which will come into place at 9am on Saturday morning and will remain until 3am on Sunday morning.

Tonight is expected to be mild early in the night, but will gradually get colder, with lowest temperatures of 2 or 3 degrees occurring.

A Status Red warning has been issued for Galway and Clare, where winds could reach up to 145kph.
