Dublin weather: Snow/Ice warning still in place as Ireland prepares for Storm Dennis with -3 temperatures tonight

As the whole of Ireland prepares for Storm Dennis this weekend, Met Eireann's snow/ice weather warning for Dublin will remain in place for most of this morning.

Dublin, Wicklow, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal and Louth were icy in parts overnight with wintry outbreaks.

Met Eireann warned of some snow accumulations possible before this morning, mainly on higher ground with the warning in place until 10am.

The rest of Thursday will be cold and mostly dry. There will be a few isolated light showers with highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees.

They say: "Thursday night will start dry and chilly, with clear spells over Ulster allowing a widespread frost to form here. Temperatures in all areas will rise during the night however, as cloud quickly increases and rain reaches the west coast later in the night. Minimums early in the night of zero to minus 3 degrees."

Met Eireann's early indications for Storm Dennis is that it will bring with it a very wet and windy start to Saturday.

There will also be heavy rain across the country on Saturday night with winds remaining strong to gale force.

They also predict the possibility of heavy showers turning wintry over higher ground on Sunday with strong wind and rain.
