Dublin Weather: Relentless rain as Met Eireann give 'very disturbed' Ireland forecast

Dublin is set to be battered by very heavy rain over the next two days.

Met Eireann have warned that Friday morning's dry spell will be the last we'll see for a few days as the rest of the day will see heavy widespread downpours that may get stronger as it goes.

There's also a risk of spot flooding as experts say bad weather is set to relent on the capital for the coming days.

They said: "Cloudy and misty today. Mainly dry in the morning.

"Showers widespread in the afternoon, some giving heavy downpours.

"Fresh southwest winds, increasing strong in the south. Highest temperatures 13 to 15 degrees.

"Dry spells this evening and early tonight.

"Further heavy showers later tonight- merging to heavy rain. Very windy too with severe gusts. Lowest temperatures 6 to 8 degrees."

They went on to say that there's a chance of flooding in some areas on Saturday as the heavy rain will continue to lash down.

They said: "Further heavy showers tomorrow with the chance of spot flooding. Spells of very heavy rain in the south.

"Strong west winds with severe gusts. A cool day. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees."

The experts have yet to make a specific Dublin prediction past Saturday, but the current national outlook descibed a "very disturbed, wet and windy" scene.

Here's what they said:

SUNDAY

"A mostly cloudy and very blustery day with widespread showers.

"The showers will be prolonged and heavy with lengthy spells of heavy rain - especially over the south and east with the risk of flooding. Winds will be strong with gales likely near coasts."

MONDAY

"Staying very unsettled with lots of blustery showers, most frequent over eastern counties. Winds having backed to the north will be strong with occasional gale gusts.

"Noticeably cool."

TUESDAY

"Winds will ease and showers will mostly likely be isolated with most places getting good dry spells.

"A cold day with sharp frost forming widely on Tuesday night."

"Present signs are for yet more rain to spread countrywide on Wednesday with unsettled conditions continuing thereafter."
