Dublin weather: Met Eireann warns that there's rain on the way as winds to reach 'almost gale force' speeds along the coast

The sun may be shining down on Dublin this morning but the weekend is going to end in the wet and windy style Ireland is known for.

There's rain coming from the southwest, and it's bringing winds with it that will be almost gale force near the coast.

Not great conditions when you consider we're also set for a pretty mild day, with temperatures going as high as 16C.

Things will clear up a bit come night time, but there's still going to be scattered and blustery showers throughout.

So if you're planning when to do your bit of exercise today - get it done early, so you can chill out on the couch with a movie when the weather turns.

Here's what to expect:

Met Eireann says: "Starting off largely dry today with some hazy sunny spells. However, outbreaks of rain will spread from the southwest during the afternoon and evening. Strong south to southeast winds, reaching near gale force on the coast. Mild, with highs of 14 to 16 degrees.

Tonight

The last of today's rain will clear the east coast around midnight, then a mostly dry night with clear spells and scattered blustery showers. Southwesterly winds moderating. Minimum temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees.

Tomorrow, Monday

A fresher day with sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers becoming isolated later in the day. Mostly dry by evening. Winds moderate west to southwest. Maximum temperatures 12 to 13 degrees.
