Dublin weather: Met Eireann warns of wet and miserable start to weekend with heavy showers and spot flooding forecast across Ireland

A wet and miserable Friday is in store for Dublin as we head into the weekend, so be prepared.

Met Eireann has warned that we can expect plenty of rain this morning and although it's due to brighten up as they day goes on - the risk will always be there of more.

Temperatures are expected to reach about 9C, so you'll still need a good jacket if you're heading out.

Then tonight we can expect even more rain, and the capital is likely to be hit with spot flooding in parts.

Met Eireann says: "Mostly cloudy and misty to begin today with showers or longer spells of rain, but brightening up at times later.

"The risk of showers, some heavy, will, however, continue. Top temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees in light to moderate east to southeast breezes.

"Persistent and occasionally heavy rain will develop this evening and early tonight, continuing overnight, with spot flooding likely. Lows of 3 to 6 degrees in light to moderate easterly breezes."

As for the weekend, the risk of rain and spot flooding will continue into Saturday.

Then when it comes to Sunday, the low pressure conditions are going to stick around not only in Dublin but across Ireland.

Heading into next week, it looks like temperatures will increase even if only slightly - but the rain isn't going to disappear anytime soon.
