Dublin weather: Met Eireann warns of more rain and wind ahead of mixed weekend with gale force gusts expected in parts of Ireland

A wet and windy start to Friday here in Dublin, but it won't be that way for all of the day.

While we can expect the morning to remain pretty miserable, conditions are set to improve in the afternoon with some sunshine on the way.

Even though conditions will improve, it's still going to be quite a windy day so prepare yourself if you're heading outside.

Temperatures will reach 10C before getting a bit chillier overnight. Some more rain is expected, with mist and fog arriving in the capital.

Met Eireann says: "There'll be scattered heavy showers this morning, becoming isolated during the afternoon with sunny spells developing. A breezy day, westerly winds will be moderate to fresh with temperatures of between 7 and 10 degrees during the afternoon.

"Temperatures will fall overnight to between 4 and 6 degrees with mostly moderate west to southwest winds. There'll be further isolated showers with long dry and clear spells and mist thickening to fog. Towards morning it'll become cloudy."

As for the weekend, it's going to start out pretty damp on Saturday with brighter spells on the way.

It will be quite windy, and then the rain will make a return by evening time and is expected to be quite heavy.

Temperatures will reach 11C.

Met Eireann continued: "Saturday will start generally rather cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle in the morning, it'll brighten up for a time in the afternoon.

"A moderate westerly wind will back southerly and will increase to become strong ahead of a spell of rain arriving from the west later in the evening.

"The rain will turn heavy for a time. Temperatures during Saturday will range between 9 and 11 degrees, and will rise by a couple of degrees in the first part of the night.

"On Saturday night the rain will be heavy for a time before clearing in the first half of the night to scattered showers, mostly affecting coasts of the west and north.

"Temperatures will fall to between 4 and 6 degrees by dawn. Winds will be fresh westerly, strong on the coasts."

For Sunday we're looking at more rain and even gale force winds in parts, particularly along the coastline.

Then heading into next week, it's going to be a continued mix bag of conditions with rain, wind and sunshine expected early in the week.
