Dublin weather: Met Eireann warns of gale force winds expected along coast as yellow warning issued for nearby Wicklow with -4C temperatures forecast over weekend

A difficult day of weather conditions is in store for Dublin, with a wet beginning across the capital.

The wind is going to pick up across the country, and those gusts will be gale force along the capital's coasts.

A yellow weather warning has also been issued for nearby Wicklow - this warns that gusts will reach up to 110km/h in the county.

Temperatures are expected to reach 11C, but that's going to drop to 0C overnight and frost will develop.

Met Eireann says: "Cloudy with outbreaks of rain this morning. Windy as well with strong southerly winds, reaching gale force along the coast. The rain will clear around mid afternoon and it will brighten up a bit.

"With the clearance winds will moderate somewhat but it will still be breezy in fresh southwesterlies. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.

"Mainly dry tonight with just a few showers. Frost will develop under clear skies. Lowest temperatures of zero to 3 degrees. Southwest winds will ease further and become mostly light to moderate."

While it won't be as wet and windy on Friday, temperatures are expected to plummet overnight as we ahead into the weekend.

Friday night will see them drop as low as -4C across Ireland, that's going to continue on Saturday.

There will be severe frost so driving conditions are sure to be hampered.

Met Eireann says: "Sunny spells and isolated showers on Friday. Highest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees. Moderate southwest winds will veer westerly in the afternoon.

"Friday night will be very cold with a widespread sharp to severe frost under clear skies. Minimum temperatures of -4 to zero degrees."
