Dublin weather: Met Eireann warns of -1C temperatures with frost, ice, sleet and snow before weekend jump to 13C

There's another cold day in store for Dublin, but there's a big change coming by the end of the week and it's bringing warmer temperatures.

Despite the chill, it's going to be a relatively sunny day in the capital although there could be the odd shower or two.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 8C, but that's going to give way to quite a cold night.

Frost and ice are going to develop as temperatures drop to -1C, and there's going to be some rain by morning time.

Met Eireann says: "Cold today. Frost and any icy patches clearing this morning. Generally bright and mostly dry today with good sunny spells but there may be the odd shower this morning.

"Afternoon temperatures of about 8 degrees Celsius, breezy this morning with a fresh northwest winds falling off light during the afternoon.

"Cold, dry and clear tonight, with frost and icy stretches developing as temperatures fall to zero or -1 Celsius for a time but clouding over with rain developing towards morning."

Wednesday will bring more wintry conditions, with a chance of sleet or wet snow on higher ground.

Temperatures will be lower again during the daytime, reaching only 6C.

Thursday and Friday will once again see colder conditions, with the change arriving on Saturday.

Over the weekend we can expect temperatures to reach 13C.

Met Eireann continued: "Mild and breezy on Saturday, some drizzle in the west but mostly dry early in the day, however strengthening winds will bring persistent rain eastwards during the afternoon and evening.

"Fresh to strong southerly winds. Highs of 10 to 13 degrees Celsius. The rain will clear to showers on Saturday night. Cooler on Sunday with sunny spells and showers. Breezy also. Highs of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius."
