Dublin weather: Met Eireann warn of thunderstorms and possible spot flooding in miserable forecast

Ireland's mini-heatwave has ended with no return of the sunshine in sight.

Sunny weather is being replaced by dull, wet and thundery conditions but temperatures are expected to remain quite warm. Today will be cloudy in Dublin with scattered showers from early morning, some heavy and thundery at times.

There will be a few dry intervals early this afternoon before further showers develop later, turning heavy and possibly thundery. Hail and spot flooding also possible. Highest temperatures will reach 18 to 21 degrees in moderate southerly winds.

Sunday will begin with generally cloudy conditions and isolated showers in Dublin. Some of the showers will turn heavy and possibly thundery during the afternoon and evening with spot flooding a risk. Highest temperatures will reach 19 to 22 degrees with light southeast winds.

While there is no further forecast for Dublin, here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:

Monday

"Widespread showers developing across the country by morning and becoming persistent and possibly heavy at times in the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible also which may cause spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees with a light to moderate southerly breeze.

Tuesday

"Staying rather unsettled with showers around coastal counties slowly spreading throughout the country during the afternoon and evening. A little cooler than recent days with highs of 18 to 21 degrees. Light to moderate southerly breezes, fresh at times in the south.

Wednesday

"It looks to remain unsettled with low pressure continuing to dominate the weather on Wednesday. Cloudy with showers, some heavy and possibly thundery during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will reach around 18 to 22 degrees with light westerly breezes."
