Dublin weather: Met Eireann warn of potential 'snow shower' as temperatures drop to -3C ahead of weekend

Met Eireann has warned Dubliners about the potential of the odd sleet or snow shower on the Dublin Mountains as temperatures drop to a freezing -3C before the weekend.

It will be cold today with patchy frost but this will clear as they day goes on to become bright with sunny spells at times.

There will be scattered rain or hail showers but the national forecaster warns of the possibility of  "odd sleet or snow shower on the Dublin Mountains".

Afternoon temperatures will be around the 5C mark with the Celsius dropping to zero in the nighttime.

There will be the odd rain and possible hail showers as frost inland makes temperatures drop to 0 while it will hold above zero on the coast.

Colder than normal conditions are to continue over the weekend and for the early days of next week.

Daytime temperatures will be in single figures and there will be the potential of frosts most night.

Friday night will be extremely cold with temperatures falling to between 0 and -3 with a hard frost and patchy mist and fog also.

Met Eireann also predicts similar temperatures for the capital on Sunday night.
