Dublin weather: Met Eireann reveal New Year's Eve forecast for Ireland

Met Eireann say that Ireland will see a 8-9C swing over the next couple of days as they reveal the forecast for New Year's Eve.

They say that December 31 will start off mostly dry and cloudy with some bright spells early on.

Temperatures of 10C will drop to as low as 2C but will stay mostly dry and cloudy for the rest of the night.

New Year's Day will be more of the same with maximum temperatures of 9C with dry and cloudy weather.

For Wednesday night they state: "It will be a windy night but dry for the most part. Rain will reach the west coast later in the night and spread into western coastal counties by dawn.

"Minimum temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees, milder on south and west coasts, with strengthening southerly winds, becoming strong to near gale on coasts."

As for Thursday, it will be a wet and windy day with rain spreading during the morning and early afternoon.

Temperatures will hit a maximum of 12C but will drop to a low 3C with showers expected along the coast.
