Dublin weather: Met Eireann six-day forecast as 'awful' period warned in huge Ireland change

There will be a cloudy and dull start to the week this week with outbreaks of rain at times on Monday as the country prepares for an "awful day" this week.

There will be a few sunny spells on Monday with temperatures of 14C during the day dropping to around 9C overnight with isolated patches of mist and drizzle becoming more persistent by morning.

And looking into the week, Wednesday is looking rotten as another weather expert predicts a proper day for the ducks on Wednesday.

Well-known forecaster Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather predicts an "awful day", warning people not to make plans or even go outside.

Here's how the rest of the week is looking according to Met Eireann:

Tomorrow : Tuesday, will start out rather cloudy with a little lingering drizzle and mist, sunnier conditions will develop later. Afternoon temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with a light to moderate southerly wind, freshening later.

Wednesday: "It will be a wet and windy day with a risk of spot flooding as rain turns heavy and persistent for a time. The strong southerly winds will ease later and temperatures will be between 11 and 13 degrees once again."

They added: "Thursday will be a dry day with sunny spells at first, it'll become cloudy later. A moderate southwest wind will fresh by Friday when another spell of heavy rain is expected.

Next weekend: "The weather is expected to continue unsettled on Saturday and Sunday with southwest winds bringing rain at times."
