Dublin weather: Met Eireann say snow, thunder and sleet for Ireland as two warnings still in place and temperatures drop below freezing

Met Eireann has forecast snow, sleet, hail and thunder for Dublin today as temperatures drop to below freezing.

Tuesday morning will be cold and icy with snow lying in some areas. It will be very windy again with the above combination hitting across the day.

Temperatures will be around 3-7C but feeling colder in strong and gusty westerly winds. A combination of Spring Tide, strong onshore winds and high seas will result in a risk of coastal flooding along the Atlantic seaboard.

For Monday night, Met Eireann say: "Wintry showers will continue for a time overnight and turn increasingly to rain and hail.

"Frost and ice forming in many areas as the strong west to southwest breeze begins to moderate. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees.

As well as this, a status yellow snow/ice warning is still in place for the whole of Ireland until the end of the day.

This means "Widespread wintry showers on Monday and Tuesday with some snowfall accumulations, especially in the west and north. Some disruption to travel is possible, particularly over higher routes."

Also, a status yellow wind warning is also in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.

This will see strong westerly winds continuing with mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 110km/h and that warning will remain valid until 8pm tonight.
