Dublin weather: Met Eireann's glorious weekend forecast as capital to bask in sunshine and warm temps

Time to break out that sunscreen as Dublin will sizzle in wonderful sunshine and glorious warm temperatures.

Met Eireann has forecasted a lovely weekend with temperatures reaching the highs of 18 degrees in the capital. You better enjoy it while you can because the national forecaster has also warned of a major change for next week.

Met Eireann said temperatures will drop from Sunday onwards as next week is set to be cooler with rain dominating. The mercury will drop to the lows of 4 degrees in some parts of Ireland.

Today will be dry with sunny spells and the highest temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees in Dublin. Dry weather will continue into the night with clear spells and some patches of mist or fog developing in near calm conditions and temperatures will hit the lows of 4 to 8 degrees.

Tomorrow will start off with any patchy mist or fog clearing to a dry day with spells of sunshine. The highest temperatures will be around 16 to 18 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Saturday night

"Saturday night will start off dry. Rain and drizzle will develop in the west and northwest around midnight and will spread eastwards to most areas overnight. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees with mostly light southerly winds, which will be fresher along Atlantic coasts.

Sunday

"Sunday will start off mostly cloudy and damp with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The rain will gradually clear eastwards with sunny spells and perhaps a few light showers following. It will become noticeably cooler as the rain clears with moderate to fresh northwest winds becoming established and highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

"Sunday night will be mainly dry with clear spells and a few showers in the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees with light to moderate northwest breezes."
