Dublin weather: Met Eireann's freezing forecast as mercury to plummet to -3C

Wrap up warm, folks, as the temperatures are set to plummet this weekend.

Met Eireann has forecasted freezing conditions for tomorrow night with frost and icy patches. The mercury will drop to as low as -3 degrees in a huge temperature swing.

Today will be cloudy with a chance of some patchy light rain. The highest temperatures will be around 11 to 13 degrees.

Tonight will be cloudy as well with outbreaks of light rain starting to develop in the evening. Winds will become a light easterly later in the evening with rain becoming a little persistent towards midnight. The lowest temperatures will be around 3 to 5 degrees.

Tomorrow will start off cloudy with rain slowly clearing away. Cloud will largely break up too with some good sunny spells developing and the highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Sunday night

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Any showers will clear away with long clear and dry spells developing. Winds will fall light and temperatures will fall widely below freezing with -1 to -3 degrees. Frost and icy patches expected overnight in central and northern areas but it will stay a touch milder over Munster with temperatures staying just above freezing.

Monday

"A mostly clear and dry start but cloud will build later in the morning with a few showers for southern areas. Staying largely dry elsewhere with light winds. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees."
