Dublin weather: Met Eireann pinpoints day of 24C for Ireland but a big change is coming

Met Eireann has said that Wednesday will see temperatures reaching the mid-20s but sadly the country will be rocked by thundery showers in the days following that.

While temperatures will remain in the 22C+ category, Met Eireann has warned about the possibility of thundery bursts in places over Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday despite Wednesday seeing temperatures of 24C in Dublin.

Today, Tuesday will see a misty start in many areas with some fog patches.

They say: "A few scattered sharp showers are possible in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures a warm 19 to 23 degrees with very light winds and afternoon sea breezes developing."

Monday night: "Tonight will be a dry night with good clear spells and patchy mist and fog developing. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in light variable breezes."

Here's how the next few days are looking:

Tomorrow : "Wednesday will be dry and mostly cloudy to start but brightening up during the day with sunny spells and some isolated showers possible. Warm again, with highest temperatures of 20 to 24 degrees in light northerly or variable breezes with sea breezes developing keeping coastal areas a little cooler."

Thursday: "It will begin dry and bright in many areas with some sunny spells. Showers or longer spells of rain will slowly spread from the southeast during the day with the risk of thundery downpours. The north and northwest though should stay mostly dry. Highest temperatures will range 17 to 22 degrees in light to moderate north to northeasterly breezes."

Friday : "It will be generally cloudy and showery in southern and midland parts. There is still a potential for some thundery bursts in places, but northern parts of the country may stay drier with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees."

Long-range forecast : "Current indications suggest that the weekend will bring warm sunny spells and some occasional showers too, locally heavy. It will still be rather close with light winds, and daytime temperatures getting into the low 20's inland and the high teens at the coast with afternoon sea breezes developing. Night-time temperatures will be around 13 to 15 degrees."
