Dublin weather: Met Eireann issue FOUR WARNINGS for Ireland as temperatures hit zero

Met Eireann has issued four weather warnings as temperatures are set to hit to a cold 0C again tonight.

The remaining frost, fog and ice from Wednesday morning will quickly clear as outbreaks of rain spread from the south.

It will become windy also as southeast winds increase and become strong and gusty at times near the coast.

The rain will become persistent and locally heavy during the afternoon and evening with temperatures hitting highs of 9C but will become a little milder during the evening.

The weather will continue to be changeable with rain or showers at times but there will be good dry periods in the capital as the week goes on.

As well as this, Met Eireann has a status yellow wind warning in place for the whole of Ireland until midnight tonight with southeast winds bringing gusts of 90-110km/h on Wednesday which will be strongest in coastal areas.

There is also a status yellow rainfall warning in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford.

This is in place until 7pm tonight and means that "heavy rain will push northeastwards on Wednesday with rainfall accumulations of 30-40mm expected with the risk of localised flooding".

As well as this, a status orange gale warning is in place along with a status yellow small craft warning.

The orange gale warning means there will be "southeast gales or strong gales today on all coasts of Ireland and on the Irish sea. South to southwest winds will reach storm force this evening and tonight on coasts from Mizen Head to Slyne Head to Malin Head."

Other weather experts believe that Ireland will feel the influence of 'Storm Elsa' but this has not been confirmed by Met Eireann.

Midlands Weather Channel said: "Storm Elsa [from Portugal] will deepen rapidly upon approach to Ireland bringing wind speeds in excess of 140km/h to parts of the south, southwest and west during tomorrow evening and tomorrow night."
