Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecasts scorcher of a day as temps to rise to mid-20s

Met Eireann has forecasted a very hot day as temperatures are set to jump to the mid-20 degrees in Dublin.

The mercury is set to hit the highs of 25 degrees as the heat blast is set to continue. Today will be especially warm as residual showers will clear to give way to a dry day with sunny spells.

There may be an isolated shower locally, however. The highest temperatures will be around 23 to 25 degrees, although it will be a little cooler near the coast with an onshore breeze through the afternoon and some patches of coastal mist or fog are also possible.

Tonight will be warm and muggy but it will be dry and clear in many areas with mist and fog forming. There may be a few stray showers near the coast. Temperatures will be around 13 to 16 degrees.

Tomorrow will be another warm day with temperatures of 20 to 23 degrees. There will be some good spells of hazy sunshine although it will turn more cloudy later with the chance of a few showers.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Wednesday night

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Wednesday night will be a very mild night with temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees and very light, mainly southeasterly, breezes. Lingering showers in the west will die out with a dry night for many. Turning misty with some fog patches.

Thursday

"Thursday will be a very warm or hot day with sunny spells, and although hit or miss, heavy showers or thunderstorms are likely to develop during the day. The bulk of these showers are likely to be over the Midlands and west of the county with the potential for spot flooding locally.

"Highs largely between 22 and 26 degrees with little to no wind aside from sea breezes keeping some coastal fringes slightly less warm.

Thursday night and Friday

"Some showers are expected to move into the south of the country on Thursday night and will then move up over Ireland during Friday with some heavy or thundery downpours in parts. The showers won't be quite as intense as in recent days but they will be more widespread and will likely affect eastern parts too.

"Not quite as warm with more cloud around but some sunny spells at times too. Highs of 19 to 24 degrees, in a light to moderate southeasterly breeze."
