Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecast cold and mainly dry day but temperatures set to rise into double figures on Friday

Good morning Dublin. And now for the weather.

Another cold day ahead for the capital, and you might to boil the kettle if you’re about hop not the car, because that windscreen will need deicing - speaking from experience.

Met Eireann tell us this: "Cold and frosty this morning with some icy stretches. It will be mostly dry and bright today, with sunny spells and just the odd isolated shower.

"Cold with highest afternoon temperatures of just 5 or 6 degrees, in fresh northwesterly winds, easing and backing westerly by evening.”

So cold is the word of the day.

Tonight

Have a guess…. You’re right. Cold, frosty and icy.  And we might get some “outbreaks” of rain too. Outbreaks sound scary, especially at the moment, but it’s just rain.

Tomorrow

Surprise: Plenty more rain is forecast for Friday, though it is expected to get a milder, rising as high as double figures.

Met Eireann says: "Noticeably milder than recent days however, with highest temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees.”

Before you all get too excited, they also say that “the best of any dry periods will be during the afternoon”. Yep - “any dry periods” doesn't sound that promising.

National outlook for the weekend

"Continued unsettled conditions with cold, wet and windy weather at times,” is what the weather experts are forecasting for now.

And rain, hail, sleet and snow all get an honourable mention as well.

Have a great day folks!
