Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecast big change with day of 22C coming as storm update issued

A big change is on its way this weekend as highs of 22C are set to hit the capital in an unexpected weekend forecast.

Turning attention to today first though and it will be dry and bright with sunny spells.

Temperatures of 18C will drop to around 7C overnight remaining dry with clear intervals.

While any storm fears that were rumoured earlier this week have been eased with the latest update as it looks set to bypass the country.

Weather expert Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather had been concerned that a storm could be heading our way, but thankfully has now predicted it won't be hitting us.

He said: "The weekend is now looking fairly good with no storm in sight."

Here's how the rest of the week is looking:

Tomorrow : "Thursday will be mainly dry, with bright or sunny spells at first, but becoming mostly cloudy. Max. 16 or 17 Celsius, in light to moderate southwesterly winds."

Friday : "Rain will extend gradually from the west and northwest during the morning and afternoon, persistent and locally heavy in parts of Connacht and Ulster in the morning, but tending to become more patchy as it moves southeastwards. Brighter conditions, with sunny spells and scattered showers, will follow from the northwest. Cool, with maximum temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, in moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, strong on Ulster and north Connacht coasts."

Saturday : "Still quite cool and mostly dry, with bright spells at first, but cloudy conditions will extend from the Atlantic and a little patchy rain or drizzle will develop in Atlantic coastal counties. Max. 14 to 18 Celsius. Becoming windy, especially on Atlantic, with moderate southwesterly winds increasing fresh to strong, with gales later on northwest coasts. Becoming mild and humid."

Sunday : "Quite warm and humid, with rain and drizzle at times, mainly in Atlantic coastal counties. Hill and coastal fog also. Some bright or sunny spells will develop, mainly in the east and south. Maximum temperatures will range from 17 to 22 degrees, in moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, still strong on Atlantic coasts."

Further Outlook (Monday to Wednesday): "Warm and humid, with some showery rain likely at times, but good dry spells also, with some sunny breaks."
