Dublin weather: Met Eireann advisory in place for all of Ireland as very gusty conditions and heavy rain hammer the country

A wet and windy start to Tuesday in Dublin, with a weather advisory in place for all of Ireland today.

The advisory is in place until 4pm, and it warns of strong winds and very gusty conditions. It's been in place since 4am this morning.

The advisory says: "Tuesday will be a blustery day with strong winds and very gusty conditions associated with an active front moving eastwards across the country.

"Generally, winds will be below warning thresholds but damage to some structures and trees, already weakened from the effects of Storm Atiyah, is possible.

"Rain and showers will be heavy at times as well, especially in Atlantic coastal counties."

As for the rest of the day, it's expected that the rain will eventually clear this afternoon into the Irish Sea.

There will be some sunshine following, along with scattered showers but the winds will stick around a while longer.

Met Eireann says: "Wet and windy this morning with outbreaks of rain, turning heavy and squally at times.

"The rain will clear into the Irish Sea during the afternoon with a mix of sunshine and scattered showers following behind.

"Mild in the first half of the day with highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees but turning colder later. Strong and gusty southerly winds will veer westerly in the afternoon.

"Cold and blustery overnight with good clear spells but also a few passing showers. Minimum temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds with a slight frost possible in sheltered spots."
