Dublin weather: It's bleak news from Met Eireann who predict a wild, wet weekend ahead

Met Eireann don't have much good news for sun-loving Dubliners as the weekend draws in.

But those that enjoy a good soaking are in for a real treat.

The miserable weather is here for the morning, the weather experts forecast, and while it should lift over the coming hours, more outbreaks of rain are expected this afternoon.

On the plus side, the pollen forecast is low to moderate for both today and tomorrow (Saturday).  There - that's the good news done with!

Met Eireann give blunt Dublin weather forecast while warning sent to asthma sufferers as Ireland gets strange influx of Saharan dust

Here's what Met.ie says of Dublin's weather for the day ahead:

Today, Friday 26th April

"Wet for a time this morning with outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain, but drying out gradually, though staying mostly cloudy.

"Further outbreaks of rain will arrive from the southwest later this afternoon. Mostly moderate west to southwest winds will back southerly by evening and freshen.

"Top temperatures 10 to 12 degrees."

Gorgeous pop up gardens will appear in Dublin this week to give city dwellers a taste of Ireland's Ancient East

Tonight

This evening isn't expected to be any better...

Met Eireann continues: "Wet and increasingly windy tonight with outbreaks of rain continuing.

"The rain will turn persistent and heavy in the latter half of the night. Light to moderate southerly winds at first will veer northwest and increase fresh to strong and gusty overnight."

Saturday, 27th April

Tomorrow morning sees the start of the Cycle Against Suicide, which departs from Westmanstown in Lucan at 10am.

We'll be there to see them off on their 10 day trip around the country to raise awareness and get the message out that "it's OK to not feel OK - and it's absolutely OK to ask for HELP".

Are you blood type O, A or B negative? If so, the Irish Blood Transfusion Service really needs your help

If you want to see them off with us tomorrow morning, head over to the Dublin Live Facebook page just before 10 bells, when we'll be going LIVE as three-hundred plus cyclists all clad in orange head off on the road to Tullamore for the first stage.

But back to the weather. Riders, you might want to look away now, because Met Eireann say this of tomorrow's national outlook:

"A wet and windy start to tomorrow Saturday with fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds.

"The rain will gradually clear out northeastwards in the morning and it will brighten up during the afternoon with sunny spells and the risk of the odd shower.

"The winds will gradually moderate by evening. Highs of 10 or 11 degrees."

Sunday promises more of the same, and Met Eireann's national outlook up until Wednesday doesn't suggest there's much good drying weather ahead...
