Dublin Weather: Heavy rain and thunder warning for Ireland as Met Eireann forecast big change following drizzly start to the week

Dublin weather is going to get progressively worse as the week go on as heavy thundery showers are making their way towards the capital.

Met Eireann have forcast a drizzly Monday saying we can expect highs of 14 degrees and some light showers here and there - but warned Tuesday will see some more extreme conditions hit the island.

They said: "Monday will start off damp with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. It will become drier through the day but stay quite cloudy. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with light southerly breezes.

"Tuesday will have a wet start with outbreaks of rain, which will be heavy at times. A clearance will develop in the western half of the country during the afternoon but the rain will continue in eastern parts into the evening. Highs of 12 to 15 degrees. "

Wednesday will see us get some respite with clear and dry spells - but don't get too used to it as Thursday is when the worst will come.

They said: "Thursday will see a bright and dry start to the day. It will turn showery around midday with some heavy and possibly thundery bursts through the afternoon and evening. Highs of 12 or 13 degrees, in light easterly breezes. The showers will die out overnight with lows of 5 or 6 degrees.

"Friday will be dry and bright during the morning. Cloud will increase across the western half of the country in the afternoon and outbreaks of rain will develop through Ulster, Connacht and west-Munster. Mainly dry in more eastern counties. Highs of 12 to 14 degrees, best across south-Leinster."
