Dublin Weather: Heavy rain and thunder could hit capital TODAY as Met Eireann forecast big downturn for Ireland

Dublin is set for a weird day of weather as heats hit over 20 degrees again - but heavy rain and thundery showers are also on the way.

Met Eireann have warned today is going to be wet and humid with this morning being the only good spell of clear skies and sun.

Rain is set to roll in in the later parts of this morning while it could get heavy as the day progresses.

They said: "A few bright or short sunny spells at first, but becoming cloudy with some rain developing.

The forecaster says Wednesday evening will see some more extreme weather roll in (Ventusky)

"The rain should be light and scattered this morning, but is set to turn heavy and possibly thundery later this afternoon and early evening. Close and humid, with top temperatures 19 to 21 C., in light to moderate southerly or variable breezes.

Tonight will see it continue with thunder also possible.

They said: "Cloudy and misty tonight, with some further rain, heavy at times early in the night, with a risk of thunder. Close and humid with lowest temperatures 13 to 15 C., in light southwest or variable breezes."

The good news is Thursday will see summer return, with "sunny spells developing gradually" throughout the day.

"A cloudy, misty start, with some light rain. But soon brightening up and drying out, with some sunny spells developing gradually. Top temperatures 19 to 21 C., in light variable breezes."

Friday will be much the same with some light showers while we're in for another dry weekend.
