Dublin weather: Heatwave to come to an end with massive drop in temperatures on the way

It's another glorious morning with the capital bathed in sunshine but forecasters have warned there's a massive drop in temperatures as the week draws on.

Today will be dry and sunny with top temperatures of 21 to 23C with the fine weather set to last until tomorrow where it will be as warm as 26C.

Met Eireann say that sunshine will turn a bit hazier on Tuesday afternoon as cloud builds and there's a chance of rain developing in the evening.

And from Wednesday the forecaster says we can expect it to be breezier and much cooler than what we have enjoyed for the past week.

Maximum temperatures will range from just 12 to 17C with a chance of occasional rain and showers.

The gloomy and cloudy conditions will continue on Thursday with top temperatures again of 12 to 17C.

It will get slightly cooler again on Friday when the mercury will only hit between 11 to 16C while northwest winds will be moderate to fresh and gusty and stronger near coasts.

And the national forecast for next weekend is "uncertain" with a strong chance of rain.

Met Eireann said: "Details a little uncertain at this time range but rather cool conditions signalled with a northwesterly airflow dominating and maximum temperatures below average for the time of year.

"Current indications for Saturday suggest fairly widespread showers in brisk west to northwest winds, with showers clearing eastwards on Sunday as the northwesterly winds gradually moderate."
