Dublin weather: Heatwave is here to stay as temperatures to top 20C for the rest of the week

Dublin is set to bask in the sun for the rest of the week as temperatures continue to soar, Met Eireann predicts.

Temperatures are set to hit the lofty heights of 25C as the capital enjoys its longest stretch of sun this year so far.

Today will be a dry day in Dublin with a light breeze, but it will still feel very warm.

Temperatures will be between 17C and 20C.

We're set for a dry, mild night as well, with temperatures dropping to about 10C with a light variable breeze - perfect overnight drying weather.

And luckily for hay fever sufferers, despite the high temperatures, the pollen count will be low today.

Here's the full outlook for the next few days:

Wednesday: Dry with hazy sunshine tomorrow. Feeling warm, with highs of 17 to 20 degrees in light variable winds.

Wednesday night: Dry overnight, with lows of 9 to 11 degrees. Some mist and fog patches in slack winds, most likely in the northwest.

Thursday: Warm and dry with lengthy spells of hazy sunshine. A little cloudier at times through Ulster with mist or fog lingering on some coasts here. Maximum temperatures 21 to 25 degrees, in a light southeasterly breeze.

Friday: Warm and dry again, with hazy sunshine. Cloud may thicken in the west later. Maximum tempertuares of 19 to 24 degrees in light to moderate southeasterly wind.

The weekend: Generally dry with long sunny spells. A little cloudier in western counties with a slight chance of drizzle on coasts, but mostly dry here too. Continuing warm in all areas with maximum temperatures 19 to 24 degrees in light winds.
