Dublin weather: Frosty nights ahead as October Bank Holiday weekend approaches

The October Bank Holiday weekend is shaping up to be a chilly one with bright crisp days and frosty nights forecast.

Today will see a mix of sunshine and showers with the possibility of heavy showers in the afternoon.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 12C will drop drastically come nightfall with lows of 0 to 1C with a good chance of frost.

There is a chance of more rain tomorrow afternoon with the mercury only hitting as high as 5 or 6C.

And Met Eireann say the rest of the long weekend will be just as cold with temperatures hitting just 6 to 8C on Saturday afternoon, dropping to 0C or lower overnight with more frost predicted.

The national forecast for Sunday and Monday reads: "Cold. Generally dry apart from a few coastal showers mainly in the north.

"Good sunny spells by day and afternoon highs of typical afternoon temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

"The nights will be quite chilly temperatures dipping below zero and widespread frosts, with the risk of icy patches."
