Dublin Weather: Friday set for short-lived weather boost as Met Eireann forecast unsettled weekend in Ireland

Dublin is getting a bit of respite today as we'll see much dryer periods than we have so far this week.

The capital isn't off the hook with the bad weather yet as tonight will see some heavy showers - but overall it's going to be a dry windy day.

Temperatures are also taking a bit of a boost and could reach as high as 12 degrees.

Don't get too cosy though, as more stormy conditions are set for the weekend.

Met Eireann said: "Cloudy and blustery today with outbreaks of rain moving in. The rain will be generally light and patchy in nature with dry periods also. Top temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.

"Patchy rain and drizzle will clear early tonight leaving a mix of clear spells and scattered heavy showers.

"After a mild start it will turn colder with minimum temperatures of 4 or 5 degrees by dawn on Saturday. Winds will remain fresh to strong west or southwest in direction.

Tomorrow comes with a risk of hail, but shouldn't be as bad as it's been in recent weeks.

"Saturday will be cold and breezy with sunny spells and showers.

"A few hail showers are possible. Top temperatures of just 7 or 8 degrees in fresh and gusty west or southwest breezes."
