Dublin weather forecast: Met Eireann say temperatures will drop to -1C for Ireland following snow and ice warning

Following the status yellow snow and ice weather warning that was put in place for the whole of Ireland on Monday, Met Eireann say that temperatures will take a dip once again in the capital tonight.

It will be cloudy at first on Tuesday but it will brighten up as the morning goes on, becoming mainly a dry day with some spells of sunshine.

But the nighttime will become extremely cold as temperatures drop to -1C with frost and icy stretches quickly forming along with mist and fog patches.

For Wednesday, Met Eireann says: "Tomorrow will start dry. Freshening southeast winds will bring thickening cloud with outbreaks of rain spreading from the southwest through the afternoon, with heavier pulses of rain expected in the evening.

"A little milder with afternoon temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees. Southeast winds will be fresh and gusty with gales along coasts."

Other weather experts have also claimed that Ireland will feel the influence of 'Storm Elsa' on Wednesday.

The Storm has been named by the Portugal Met Office and will bring strong winds and heavy rain to Ireland according to Facebook page 'Weather Alerts Ireland' but this has not been confirmed by Met Eireann.

Weather Alerts Ireland said: "This area of low pressure will split from a big low pressure in the centre of the Atlantic and this will push into Ireland on Wednesday morning.

"Wind gusts could reach up to 100km/h on lower ground in coastal counties and wind gusts could reach up to and over 110km/h on higher ground and exposed counties too.

"Over 30mm of rain expected in 24 hours in Southern and Eastern Coastal Counties but no warnings have been issued by Met Eireann."
