Dublin weather forecast: Cold and frosty morning in the city but plenty of sunshine on the way

It's a cold and frosty morning in Dublin but there's some good news on the way with the city set to enjoy a prolonged spell of sunshine stretching into next week.

The frost will clear by mid-morning and it will be a sunny day with highs of 10 or 11C.

It will get cold again tonight with temperatures of just 1 or 2C with moderate winds in a fresh east to southeasterly direction.

It won't be too warm tomorrow - temperatures are expected to hit just 8 or 9C - but it will be a good sunny day that should be perfect to get in those good long, but socially distant, walks to beat the coronavirus cabin fever.

Sunday is also expected to be a dry and sunny day with highs of around 11 or12C.

And the settled spell looks like it will stay with us until at least Tuesday of next week.

The national forecast reads: "Monday will be dry and with a good deal of sunshine with afternoon temperatures of up to 14 degrees possible.

"Winds will be moderate southerly in direction and overnight it will stay dry with temperatures falling back to between 5 and 3 degrees.

"The settled spell looks set to continue through Tuesday with another dry day on the cards with sunshine and temperatures between 12 and 14 degrees. The southerly winds will freshen through the day.

"The current indications suggest a southerly wind with the possibility of outbreaks of rain from Wednesday."
